Why They Hate

The question is commonly asked by liberals, "Why do the Muslim Extremists, Al-Qaeda, hate us?" They delve deep into this question, but can never seem to come up with a satisfactory answer. I was reading the latest copy of National Review last night and one of the Book Reviews hit the nail on the head. It quoted the author of the book as saying they hate us because they fear our decadent culture and the fact that it is incessantly assaulting them with impious immoralities. Of course, this is not the whole of it. They are not particularly fond of Republican principles, but that aspect of our culture never seemed to bother them before.
On the whole, I am pretty sure this is a factor, and, without sounding boastful, I have suggested the same in a letter to the editor of the local newspaper before now. But of course, I can't seem to find it in my files. It is another of those things where someone says something that strikes you as true, as something that has been nagging at the back of your mind for a long time, but only now found voice. You want to take credit for the idea. However, I must give credit to Dinesh D'Souza. It is from his book, The Enemy at Home. Today, I also had a discussion with a liberal minister about the Lord of the Rings, and the significance of Osgiliath. It proved an interesting discussion. He saw the book as a lesson that power corrupts and we should not be wielding it in our own interest or any interest. He completely ignored the fact that the entire book is replete with battles of good vs. evil. As these two incidents show, the left never sees the truth before its eyes, but twists it anyway it can to avoid the hard truths and the fact that we are in a death match. It will surely become more apparent as time goes by.
