Demographics

Demographics is the study of population trends. It is strange that whenever I bring up this subject with liberals, they always talk about "over-population". They seem to think that the world is becoming overcrowded with people. The fact is that in the developed Westernized world populations are actually declining. In Europe the population is not growing fast enough to support the older generations. In his book, America Alone, Mark Steyn reports that, if present trends continue for the next twenty years, the vast expanse of Russia will actually have fewer people than Yemen.

All this points up a real problem for our liberal society. As the Western populations decline, the swiftly growing populations of the Muslim world will inevitably move in. When this happens the liberals in our society are going to have a rude awakening. All of the freedoms they espouse (basically the equivalent of licentiousness) will be washed away. Of course, the freedoms of conservatives will also be swept away in a torrent of Muslim fundamentalism enforced by extremist violence.

I find it interesting how leftists and liberals so consistently vote for policies that are so obviously destructive to their own interests. Here we could point to abortion, opposition to the war on terror and the extension of constitutional rights to our enemies. Hopefully, the Democrats that have been swept into office in the last election will see the light and use their new found power to prosecute the war in a vigorous manner...Alas, such a hope is most likely vain.
