The Insane Asylum Called America
by Alan Caruba

WASHINGTON/ Anxiety Center -- When you live fulltime in an insane asylum, things that are just crazed begin to seem normal. For example, there was an article posted on the Environmental News Network on July 24th that actually suggested that people in California and, presumably, elsewhere around the nation, should plant certain species of trees that don't pollute the air. Let me repeat that. Trees that don't "pollute the air." Continued Below...

Here's the basic science about trees. We humans and other animals on earth breathe out Carbon Dioxide (CO2) which is vital for the growth of trees and other vegetation. They, in turn, absorb it and emit Oxygen that is vital for all other life on the planet. This system has been in place since the earliest eons of Earth's existence, once it cooled off, oceans and landmasses began to form. The Earth, 5.4 billion years old, has been doing this all by itself, but now these total lunatics who call themselves environmentalists feel compelled to tell everyone that, if they plant a tree, it should be one of their choosing, not yours.

So we have the California Environmental Protection Agency's Air Resources Board spending taxpayer money to conduct a study and make recommendations to the utterly deluded citizens of that State as to what to plant. They literally compiled a list of over 1,400 tree species and rated them for their "various pollution impacts and pollen production." I submit to you that this is nuts!

It gets worse. A coalition headed by the American Lung Association put out a news release on July 23rd stating that "The health threat from tiny soot particles is so grave that the US Environmental Protection Agency should adopt a tougher new short-term standard to protect public health while retaining the longer-term standard adopted in 1997." Soot! Tiny particles! They are being called a grave threat.

On July 25th, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences announced that grilled steaks are a cancer threat. They offered a list of sixteen things that included some detergents, shampoos and perfumes, as well as "radiation from flying in airplanes at high altitudes." The message is the same one Greens, aided by the mainstream media, have been putting out for years. Everything will kill you. Everything is carcinogenic. You are not safe anywhere. The result is the bubble of fear that is fed daily by these people and the media-driven insanity that afflicts all of us in the form of "environmental" legislation and regulations.

This nation is facing a grave threat from a lack of sufficient electrical energy. This is most dramatic in California that added millions to its population, but did not add a single new power generation plant for a decade and even managed to shut down a nuclear plant during that time. So who does the American Lung Association and its Green friends identify as the source of the problem? They blame "electric power plants" and, of course, the ever-popular whipping boy of the Green movement, automobiles.

So, naturally, the Greens don't want America to drill for the estimated 16 billion barrels of oil in a tiny, barren area of Alaska. They don't want America to tap the vast reserves in the Gulf of Mexico. They don't want any new coal mines even though this nation is home to the greatest reserves of coal in the world. Coal accounts for the generation of more than half of the electrical energy this nation requires.

Does anybody see a pattern here? Does anyone see a continued attack on the most fundamental elements of our nation's economy; it's ability to generate enough energy for its homes and business enterprises? Without the mobility of the automobile as well as the trucks that transport all the goods we buy and sell, this nation's economy grinds to a halt.

Not only do the Greens not care, they have been actively striving to achieve this for decades!

Environmentalism is not about saving the Earth. It's about destroying this nation's economy and always has been. It is not about the welfare of people, but the means to reduce the Earth's human population by any means possible, including the banning of pesticides that protect us from Nature's most active vector of disease and resisting the end of famine that will come with genetically engineered food crops.

Either we all come to our senses and batter down the doors of Asylum America or we are going to die here together as these insane environmental laws and regulations continue to attack our economy, our property rights, our freedom to choose what car to drive, what tree to plant, where we can live, and even our ability to purchase a toilet with enough water to flush our feces the first time.

The American media is on a full tear to depict President Bush's refusal to sign onto the UN Kyoto global warming treaty as a failure to respond to an immediate threat to the Earth. It is a total bogus hoax! He has said and he is totally right to say that the treaty is nothing more than a massive attack on the nation's economy; demanding that the US return to the energy levels of the 1990s. So is the Endangered Species Act that was used to destroy the lives of 1,400 farmers the Klamath Falls Valley when water was denied to them in favor of a suckerfish! This is a federal law that has never saved a single species to this day.

And who is pushing the Global Warming Treaty? The United Nations and the European Union, to name just two utterly Socialist enterprises allied against the United States of America. The Greens continue to seek more power and influence, using every form of deception, in order to run Asylum America. Unless their socialist agenda is defeated, they will destroy this nation and the lives of all who live here.
