Racists Reign Supreme at UN Racism Conference
by Alan Caruba
WASHINGTON/ Anxiety Center -- On Monday, the United States withdrew its low-level diplomats from the United
Nations Conference on Racism. This cancer on the body politic of the world
reveals its evil intentions with every passing day.
If you had visited the official Internet site of the Conference, you would
have found a photo of a stereotypical "Jew" holding a sign saying, "Authentic
Jews have always opposed Zionism." This is a lie. Jews are free to hold their
own opinions regarding this movement for a national Jewish state. The obvious
question is, if Arabs and others are free to have Moslem states, why not a
Jewish state? In some Moslem states it is against the law to practice any
other religion. By contrast, Israel goes to great lengths to protect Moslem
and Christian holy sites.
Dressed in the garb of some minor, orthodox sects, the use of this
photo - quite possibly bogus - demonstrates the naked bias of this Conference.
Today's Jew looks more like the Jew, Ruth Bader Ginsberg who serves on the US
Supreme Court; the Jew, Barbara Walters of television fame; the Jew, Paul
Newman, actor and philanthropist; the Jew, Dr. Rosalyn S. Yalow, a Nobel
Prize recipient; the Jew, Benny Goodman who integrated his band to bring us
great "swing" music; the Jew, Admiral Hyman George Rickover, the father of
the US atomic-powered navy, and countless others of the Jewish faith who have
served this nation and humanity.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said, "We are witnessing an
unprecedented anti-Semitic campaign, the likes of which we have not seen
since World War II. It is a campaign against Israel in name, but against the
Jewish people in reality." He's right. The same day, Israeli police announced
the capture of a six-member squad accused of planning to bomb the US
Consulate in Jerusalem. There are still people who ask why the US has a stake
in this fight.
Was anyone really surprised that the United Nations World Conference Against
Racism began with a racist tirade by Palestinian Authority leader, Yassir
Arafat? As reported in the September 1st Washington Times, Arafat took the
podium to accuse Israel of "racial discrimination" and "ethnic cleansing" as
it struggled against the war being waged against its citizens that has never
really ceased since its founding in 1948.
The Palestinians are not a race, nor even a national entity. They are Arabs.
They may well qualify as an ethnic group, but the Israelis are not driving
them from their homes. They are destroying buildings that Palestinians use to
fire upon Israelis. Who would leave such places standing? How does the loss
of a few buildings compare with the loss of the lives of non-combatant
civilians, teenagers waiting outside a dance hall? People who boarded a bus?
Mothers having a pizza with their children?
Apparently, Chairman Arafat has even managed to exhaust UN Secretary General,
Kofi Annan's patience. Seeking to blunt Arafat's rantings, Annan said, "The
Jewish people have been victims of anti-Semitism in many parts of the world,
and in Europe they were the target of the Holocaust - the ultimate abomination.
This fact must never be forgotten or diminished." To his credit, Annan noted
that "It is understandable, therefore, that many Jews deeply resent any
accusation of racism directed against the state of Israel-and all the more so
when it coincides with indiscriminate and totally unacceptable attacks on
innocent civilians."
Then Annan chastised Israel for using the Holocaust for what he deemed a
program of occupation, displacement and extra-judicial killings of
Palestinians. There is such a thing as being too even-handed. Annan's bias
was on display for all to see and hear.
Israel expanded its land mass when it won wars launched against it by
neighboring Arab states. Arabs who chose to remain in Israel are not
displaced. Those Palestinians who have been assassinated were involved in the
terror bombings and other acts of aggression. More than 500 Palestinians have
been killed since Arafat re-launched the Intifada (war) last September. More
than 160 Israelis have been the victims of these attacks. Arafat has called
for killing the entire population of Jews in Israel since he assumed the
leadership of the PLO.
It is ironic and instructive that this bogus UN conference about racism
should serve as a platform for the worst kind of racism and other forms of
hatred. You can thank the Arab nations of the Middle East for that. Then add
in the laments of African leaders who blame the failures of their own nations
as a white-versus-black issue. "It became necessary that we convene," said
South African President Thabo Mbeki, the conference host, "because, together,
we recognized the fact there are many in our common world who suffer
indignity and humiliation because they are not white."
Mbeki might have included the Rwandans who were slaughtered because rival
tribal members killed them. Or those in the Sudan who are enslaved by other
blacks still today. Or the blacks who sold blacks to the white slave traders
of the past who, in turn, sold them to the plantations of an American south
that has not existed for nearly 140 years. Or Uganda's Idi Amin who
oversaw the slaughter of thousands in that nation and is now the guest of
Saudi Arabia. Or Robert Mugabi, currently seeking to ethnically cleanse his
nation of white farmers. It's a long list of racial intolerance. Being black
in Africa today is no passport to tolerance. Being called an
"African-American" might give some cause for second thoughts.
At the heart of this and every other United Nations conference, treaty, and
other piece of dirty work, is the relentless propaganda intended to install
this nest of vipers as the ultimate world government, complete with its own
court, its own military, and its own form of taxation.
This was always the intention of those who created the UN, Soviet diplomats
and their US secret agents, placed high in the State Department. Only now
have we begun to learn how thoroughly these Communists and their sympathizers
infiltrated the government of Franklin D. Roosevelt. This accounts for why
Alger Hiss, a known Soviet spy, served as the first, interim UN Secretary
General. This accounts for why one of the speakers at the conference was
Angela Davis, an American Communist who came to fame during the Civil Rights
movement.
Not until the United States and other nations rid themselves of the UN will
the world be free of this international enemy of freedom.
