Kyoto Treaty!
The following is a brief exchange regarding the Kyoto Treaty:
Dear Editor,
I would like to read your opinion of the Kyoto Treaty. For what specific reasons did Pres. Bush reject this treaty? Please do not simply answer "financial issues", but rather comment on the social, economical, political and even environmental affect on the US in detail.
Glen
Our Reply:
Dear Glen,
Scientific evidence that we are undergoing global warming due to carbon emissions is based on little or no evidence. Readings of temperatures in the upper atmosphere actually show global cooling occurring. Dire predictions about flooded cities and scorched dust bowls are based on no evidence at all. At present rate our "rising" oceans will increase less than a foot in the next century.
Scientific evidence has shown that all economic activity in the world produces only about 6 percent of the carbon emissions. The Amazon rain forest actually produces more.
Periods of global cooling and warming have been more closely tied with activity on the Sun. Which makes more sense if you think about it.
25 years ago when I was in high-school teachers were scaring me with propaganda about the coming ice-age. The same pseudo-scientists who are talking about global warming now, were talking about global cooling then. If they were wrong then, what makes them right now?
Any student of history knows that weather patterns have been changing back and forth for millennia without the help of man. In the 1820s there was such a rush of global warming that whalers were going far into the arctic in pursuit of their prey. Ten years later the whalers were being trapped because weather patterns suddenly cooled and they dallied in the North too long.
Warming and cooling have been going on since the Earth was formed most likely due to variations of activity on the Sun.
People have always panicked over the changes. Probably always will.
Why should we sign a treaty that hamstrings US industry but lets China pollute the world?
US technology has made industry cleaner and has cleaned up the US environment. Air and water quality since the 60's has improved markedly.
I am afraid you are being swayed and indoctrinated by extreme left-wing environmentalist propaganda. If you want to know the truth. Don't believe me do some real research into the problem.
Read Ron Arnold's book, "Environmentalism as If People Mattered".
Cordially,
W.J. Rayment
