Recipe for a Right Wing Revolution, by Jim Kelley

Review by W. J. Rayment / ConservativeBookstore -- The advantage the left has over the right in the political struggle that has so long been part of the American scene is that they have a blue print to lead them to victory. They are determined, relentless, and always busy organizing or doing something to further their mistaken agenda. But now there is good news. A conservative has finally come out with a book that not only spells out conservative ideals and goals, but also clearly maps out a course for every individual who wants to take action: Jim Kelley's Recipe for a Right Wing Revolution: Guerilla Tactics for the Culture War.

The book begins with a concise enunciation of Kelley's conservative principles, detailing what he believes conservatives should stand for. He hits all of the right buttons including gun control, illegal and legal immigration, and personal responsibility. What is interesting about Kelley is that he has a whole new spin on almost every issue. He has a practical, intelligent, insightful, and sometimes humorous perspective, which he is not afraid to enunciate. For example, on the issue of political correctness Kelley rightly notes that liberals chastise people for using specific words and phrases because they might make some people uncomfortable. Yet at the same time they do not seem to care about insulting or offending a Christian or a conservative. His solution is to pretend he doesn't know what the liberal is talking about when he refers to the "n-word" or some other vague allusion, at least until they stop using the GD word and the MF word.

Kelley seems to hit the nail on the head no matter where he swings his hammer. At the same time, his style is an interesting blend of colloquial straight talk and undeniable logic. Kelley is a lawyer, but his chapters do not read like contracts, rather they read like summations designed to convince a jury that conservatism is right and liberalism is not merely a mistake, but in some cases a criminal act.

If his analysis of the leading issues of the culture war between right and left is insightful, the latter half of "Recipe for a Right Wing Revolution" is even better. It is useful. Many conservatives bemoan the drift of modern politics, but do not know what to do to turn things around. Kelley spells out in specific terms what can and should be done. He has some innovative ideas that could have an effect like challenging a local liberal to debate before a Lions or Rotary Club. You would not have to set up the chairs, and turning you down could tarnish some of the liberal sheen from your erstwhile opponent. Have demonstrations. Take out ads in newspapers. And an idea of which I have long been an advocate, insert conservative ideas into the entertainment media. Write a novel, make a movie, write a poem, sing a song. I myself once wrote the Tax Payer's Blues, but I never recorded it, my wife pointed out that taxes does not rhyme with matches. Besides, I can't carry a tune even on a kazoo.

This volume is 171 pages. It is packed with great information and ideas. Entertaining and thoughtful, this book is a call to action. If every conservative were to read and implement just one idea in this book, we would be an unstoppable force for good in the world.
