Certain elements of our society insist on a woman's right to choose whether or not to abort a fetus before it is born naturally. This is not far different from the right given to fathers in ancient Rome. They had the power of life and death over their children - for as long as they lived! A 40 year old man was still subject to the will of the family patriarch. If it was considered expedient for a son or daughter to die at that age, that person was expected to dispatch him or her-self. Subsequent civilizations considered this practice strange, cruel and incomprehensible.

Future generations will view our current obsession with abortion in the same light. They will look back upon our culture and say, "A woman could have made the 'choice' not to allow a man to impregnate her in the first place." Leftists will say this is impossible as the human animal, in the liberal mind, is incapable of overcoming its immediate passions, the human animal is incapable of self-control. In reality people are above the animals precisely because they can resist their instincts and apply logic to a situation.

Leftist-Feminists are pro-abortion because they see children as the primary factor that limits their freedom. The birth of a child immediately creates responsibility for the mother. There is also the sense that leftist want to severely limit population growth and they see abortion as a means to this end. It a kind of eugenics. Undesireables are never born, keeping the planet more pristine for the superior left-wing elite.
